How do I qualify for home health care within Medicare guidelines?

Be confined to the home, in need of skilled nursing care on an intermittent basis, or have a continuous need for physical or occupational therapy referred by a physician.

Do I need home care?

If you are unable to perform daily tasks such as toileting, hygiene, ambulation, feeding, or dressing without assistance, you may benefit from home care. If recently returning home from a hospital stay or rehabilitation center.

What does home bound mean?

Suppose the patient has a physical condition or physical limitation that prevents them from leaving home without assistance. When you leave home, it must be to get medical care or for infrequent nonmedical reasons, such as a trip to get a haircut or to attend religious services or adult day care.

Do I have to pay anything if I have Medicare as a primary?

If you qualify for home healthcare through Medicare, you will not have to pay anything. Medicare pays 100% of the care. There is no deductible or out-of-pocket expense. Once verified by Medicare Eligibility, Committed Home Health will provide the required services at no cost.

If I don't qualify for Medicare to pay for home health, can I still have it?

Yes. If your physician orders home healthcare, and you do not qualify under Medicare guidelines, services can be from out of pocket. Contact the agency for the fee list.

How often will you come to see me?

At the time of admission to the service, an RN will assess your condition and needs and set up a plan of care with you. The RN will discuss the frequency of visits and services with you.

What does a home health aide do?

The primary function of a home health aide is to perform personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, caring for hair, and oral hygiene. The aide spends anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour in the home. Once the personal care is complete, the aide may also perform other duties for the patient. The aide may straighten the bedroom, clean the bathroom, change the bed linens, or fix a snack for the patient. The aide does not perform spring-cleaning, sweep and mop floors, vacuum, etc.
